East Lyme — York Correctional Institution was placed on lockdown Monday was expected to remain in lockdown through the week, according to Karen Martucci, acting director of the external affairs division of the Connecticut Department of Correction.

Staff were conducting “a thorough search of the facility and grounds,” Martucci wrote in an email. “...The decision to conduct this search is to ensure safety and security.”
