Police: Norwich man threatened driver with shotgun in road rage incident

Norwich — A city man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly struck another vehicle, left the scene, threw objects at the vehicle when it followed him and then threatened the vehicle’s occupants with a knife and a shotgun.

Andrew Samborski, 21, of 29 Cherry Hill Road was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace, second-degree reckless endangerment, evading responsibility, throwing objects at a motor vehicle, unsafe passing and unsafe backing.

According to Lt. Corey Poore, Samborski backed his car into another vehicle in or near the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at 220 Salem Turnpike.

Poore said Samborski then left the scene and headed toward his house. When the vehicle Samborski allegedly hit began to follow him, Poore said, Samborski threw objects at it.

Samborski and the other vehicle continued to Samborski’s house, where Samborski went inside and came back out twice — first to grab a knife, then a shotgun, according to Poore.

Poore said police were called when Samborski came out with the shotgun, which he never ended up firing.

Several officers went to the scene, Poore said.

Samborski’s risk of injury to a minor charges stem from the fact that two children were in the other vehicle, Poore said.

Samborski’s passenger, Alexis Morrison, 18, also of 29 Cherry Hill Road, also was charged with breach of peace for allegedly getting out of the vehicle she was in and trying to start a fight with the other car’s occupants.

Information about their court dates wasn’t immediately available.
