Amtrak train strikes person in Madison
Madison — One of Amtrak's high-speed Acela trains struck a person on the tracks here Wednesday night.
According to Mike Tolbert, an Amtrak spokesperson, the person was struck at 7:08 p.m. about 25 miles north of New Haven by train 2175. The person's condition wasn't immediately available.
The train was stopped for an hour and a half before the track was reopened. None of the 251 passengers on board the train was injured. The incident caused some residual delays, Tolbert said. Shoreline East trains were experiencing delays earlier in the evenings, according to that company's social media postings.
Amtrak said that Madison police were handling the investigation.
