Fugitive from Georgia arrested in Preston

Preston — State police on Friday arrested a man living in Preston who is wanted on felony child molestation charges in Georgia.
Artemio Sanchez, 45, of 74 Route 164 is wanted for failing to appear in a Georgia court to face multiple felony charges that include child molestation, statutory rape, aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy.
Police said the Tift County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia contacted the Preston resident state troopers with information indicating Sanchez may be living in Preston.
Resident troopers, in collaboration with state police, charged Sanchez on Friday with being a fugitive from justice. Sanchez was due to appear Monday in Norwich Superior Court.
