Traffic still backed up in Waterford after rollover crash on I-95

Waterford — Interstate 95 north remains backed up between exits 81 and 82 after an early morning tractor-trailer tip over, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The crash was reported about 3:05 a.m.

Photos a reader of The Day took about 8:30 a.m. show crews working to load several pallets of materials from the overturned trailer onto a new flatbed. The flipped trailer was resting in the grassy center median.

According to a state police crash report, 52-year-old Sidney Page, of Cades, S.C., was driving his Freightliner conventional truck north just prior to Exit 82 when he drove off the left shoulder and collided with a metal beam guardrail.

The collision caused Page’s truck to roll onto its driver’s side. It has since been towed.

Police said Page was not injured in the crash. They charged him with failure to maintain the proper lane.

Police couldn’t immediately clarify what the truck was carrying or whether any fluid spilled.

At 12:30 p.m., the left lane remained closed as crews worked to repair the guardrail. Police said they didn’t know how long it would take to clear the scene.
