Waterford police say they have a suspect in theft of dog rescue donation jar
Waterford — Police say they have have identified a suspect in the theft of a donation jar for a dog rescue organization taken from a counter at a Waterford gas station.
Waterford police did not provide any information about the suspect, but said in a Facebook post Tuesday evening that they have narrowed down the search for the person who entered the Hess gas station on Boston Post Road on May 16 and stole a donation jar for Friday’s Dog Rescue Foundation.
The department did not immediately return a request for additional information Tuesday.
Police said Sunday that the white man, who was wearing a white T-shirt and a gray baseball cap, entered the station at 124 Boston Post Road about 8:15 p.m. He distracted the clerk by requesting an item from behind him while concealing the donation jar under his shirt.
Police said they had received "numerous" calls and Facebook messages about the suspect after posting his photo Sunday evening.
