Police: Man charged with DUI in Griswold tried to bite state trooper

Griswold — A Hampton man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly tried to bite the state trooper who arrested him Sunday night.

According to state police, troopers arrested 24-year-old Wesley Palmiero after he was involved in a crash on Main Street in Griswold about 9 p.m. They charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Police said Palmiero, while he was being taken to the station, tried to bite the trooper who was driving but was unsuccessful.

Police additionally charged Palmiero with criminal attempt to commit assault on a public safety official.

Palmiero, whom police described as “highly intoxicated,” couldn’t be processed because of his “inebriated and uncooperative state.”

Held on a $50,000 bond, Palmiero is due in Norwich Superior Court June 27.
