Massachusetts man charged with Norwich car burglaries

Norwich – City police arrested a Northbridge, Mass., man Monday on more than 20 charges stemming from a month-long spree of vehicle burglaries in the Cherry Hill neighborhood last summer.

Jaime Stone, 30, was charged Monday with 12 counts of third-degree burglary, nine counts of sixth-degree larceny, two counts each of attempted third-degree burglary and attempted sixth-degree larceny and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree larceny and fifth-degree larceny. He was held on a $50,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court July 6.

Police Sgt. Chris Merrill said police received numerous reports of car burglaries in the neighborhood over about a month's time last summer. Officers used unmarked cars to patrol the area and residents assisted by providing descriptions of the suspect and footage from home security systems.

Merrill said Stone was living at a residence in the neighborhood at the time.
