Stonington police charge two men after one is slashed with a knife

Stonington -- Police arrested two men early Sunday morning after they say one slashed another who refused to leave his house and who had carved a word in his bedroom wall with a knife.

Kyle T. Nye, 25, of 280 New London Turnpike, was charged with second-degree assault while Brandon Sapia, 20, of 275B Boston Post Road, East Lyme, was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.

According to police, officers responded to Nye’s home at 280 New London Turnpike about 1:30 a.m. for a report of someone slashed with a knife.

Police said Sapia has entered the home and refused Nye’s repeated requests to leave. They said he wrote on the walls of Nye’s bedroom and inscribed a word into the wall with knife. Police did not say what the word was in their press release. Police said the two had previously been involved in a dating relationship.

Police said that Sapia reported he had been arguing with Nye when Nye picked up a knife and cut his arm. Nye was held on bond. Sapia was given a summons and was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non life-threatening laceration.
