Norwich Fire Department rescues man with leg injury

Norwich — Norwich fire officials and city police used a forestry vehicle and a rescue basket to rescue a man with a leg injury in the woods near the Greeneville Dam on Wednesday evening, fire officials said.

A crew at the Greeneville fire station was dispatched at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday to assist the unidentified man in the wooded area near the dam. Fire Lt. Tim Teper requested assistance from fire headquarters because of the difficult terrain. The department’s Forestry 1 vehicle and a squad vehicle were sent to the scene. Norwich police also assisted in the rescue.

Responders used a rescue basket to carry the patient about 300 feet to a waiting ambulance. American Ambulance transported the man to the hospital.
