    New London police announce speed enforcement campaign results

    New London — Police issued more than 1,000 traffic infractions between July 1 and Sept. 5 as part of the department's 2017 speed enforcement campaign.

    The grant-funded campaign is part of the department's ongoing efforts to reduce deaths and injuries caused by car crashes and other unsafe traffic conditions, according to a release.

    During the two-month campaign, officers issued the following infractions, a total of 1,121:

    [naviga:li]Speeding: 506[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]Uninsured Vehicles: 13[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]Driving with a Suspended License: 23[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]13 Seat belt violations[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]1 Recovered stolen vehicle[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]4 narcotics arrests[/naviga:li]

    [naviga:li]9 arrest warrants served[/naviga:li]

    The New London Police Department asks the public to obey the speed limit and practice safe driving tips within and outside the city.
