No one injured after car hits utility pole, flips upside down in Stonington

Stonington — A driver heading north veered off the road and hit a utility pole Monday in the area of 282 Elm St., causing the car to flip onto its roof and the pole to snap in half, police said.

No one was injured, police said. The driver, a 33-year-old man, and the passenger, a young child, were both wearing seat belts.

One lane in the area was open, police said. Police officers and Eversource were expected to be at the scene through the night.

The accident happened around 3:38 p.m., police said.
