New London — City first responders have handled five overdose incidents in as many days, according to fire officials.

The first came Friday about 10:50 a.m., when staffers of the Dunkin Donuts at 175 Broad St. found a 52-year-old woman unconscious in the bathroom. Firefighters said employees of the coffee shop administered two doses of naloxone before first responders arrived and the woman regained consciousness. Crews took her to the hospital.

The next day brought two incidents, the first of which occurred about 9:30 a.m. at the ShopRite off North Frontage Road. Fire officials said they found a 24-year-old man likely overdosing on heroin and used two doses of naloxone on him. The man regained consciousness prior to arriving at the hospital.

The second Saturday overdose happened about 2:30 p.m., when two people overdosed on K2 near 95 Vauxhall St. Officials said crews took a 30-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man to the hospital in that incident.

On Sunday about 5:40 p.m., emergency personnel went to 135 Garfield Ave., home of the Retired Armed Forces Association. There they administered naloxone to an unconscious approximately 30-year-old woman. It wasn’t clear from available reports whether she regained consciousness before arriving at the hospital.

On Tuesday came another overdose, this one at 8:25 a.m. at 185 Pequot Ave. Fire officials didn’t yet have an ambulance report regarding the incident, but confirmed a man was taken to the hospital.
