Four teens charged with vandalizing band shell at McCook Point Park
East Lyme — Four teenagers are facing charges after they allegedly vandalized the band shell at McCook Point Park Saturday night or Sunday morning.
Police said they responded to the park about 8 a.m. Sunday and found various colors of graffiti covering a large portion of the wooden structure there. Police said the concrete floor of the shell and multiple rocks at the nearby Hole in the Wall Beach also were spray painted.
It's going to cost about $6,100 to repair the damage, police said.
Officers began investigating and by 2 p.m. Sunday had arrested three 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old. Each was charged with first-degree criminal mischief.
Because the arrestees are juveniles, their names and the eventual results of their court cases will not be publicly released.
