Norwich shop suffers 'moderate' damage in fire; cause not yet determined
Norwich — Fire officials continue to investigate a Thursday afternoon fire that damaged a screen printing shop on Norwich Avenue.
According to members of the Taftville Volunteer Fire Department, the blaze at BMTees Inc. was called in just before 4 p.m. Thursday. Crews arrived to find a fire in the middle of the 338 Norwich Ave. building.
Firefighters from the Norwich, Yantic, Occum and Mohegan Tribal departments assisted on the call.
Fire officials on Friday described damage to the building as “moderate” and said the fire’s cause and origin remain under investigation.
Records show Debra Bilda is president of the company, which does screen-printing and embroidering work on apparel and other items.
