East Lyme police charge Jewett City man following investigation into burglaries

The East Lyme Police Department has charged a 46-year-old Jewett City man, following an investigation launched last month into burglaries at two businesses on Boston Post Road.

Jeffrey B. Neilan, of 358 Main St., No. 4, Jewett City was charged Wednesday with two counts of third-degree burglary; third-degree larceny; sixth-degree larceny; first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal mischief, according to police.

Police said that after they released photographs of video evidence from the July burglaries in the Flanders section of East Lyme, multiple people stepped forward with information identifying the person in the photographs as Neilan. Following an extensive investigation by the police department's detective division, a search and seizure warrant was served at Neilan's home, according to the report.

Police said Neilan was processed and held on a $12,500 court-set bail.

Police started the investigation on July 17 after early morning burglaries at il Pomod'Oro Restaurant & Pizzeria and Post Road Market.
