Really, kids, was this a surprise to anyone except Lacey's pastor parents? I don't think so. What was a surprise was the return of the dreaded Judges' Save, which, if you recall, gave us one extra week of Matt Giraud last year. Ugh. The panel can use it up until the final five are chosen. Last night, they wisely (and unanimously) took a pass on saving Miss Brown.
The bottom three (it is sad when the Silver Stools of Salvation from Top 12 turn into the Silver Stools of Shame) were also not surprising, as Tim Urban's abs and Paige Miles' sore throat joined Lacey.
(Let's pause here for a minute to take note of the off-the-hook hair accoutrements the girls sported last night, including the hand-knitted thingie that Siobhan was strapped into. These girls are crafting their brains out in their spare time. Or shopping at Bizarre Bazaars.)
I was a teeny bit surprised that Tim was able to stagger out of the bottom three (dude needs to learn to stay steady on his feet during times of stress), leaving Paige and Lacey to cling to each other. I thought Tim's Under My Thumb was weaker than Paige's Honky Tonk Woman, but Paige does not have the "crush" factor that Tim has, so it guess it ultimately makes sense. It's not really about the singing, after all.
And then Lacey was out (danger, Will Robinson! That mascara is about to blow!), and ta-dah! Judges' Save! and she's going to sing The Story, which the judges liked previously, but we all knew it wasn't going to be enough and poof! she's gone and we will never think of her again.
What did you think?

We were about 5 minutes into last night's Top 12 episode of American Idol before I realized that there would be no mentoring of the Dozen Who Have Somehow Made It This Far. No Mick, showing Big Mike how to strut his stuff. No Keith asking all the...

I have not watched any incarnation of The Apprentice since the conclusion of its inaugural season, and I have not had anything to do with Donald Trump (no parties, no Christmas cards) since his brutal assault on Rosie O'Donnell a few years back. Any time Snoopy and the Red Baron make an appearance, it’s a good episode. I don’t care if it’s Desperate Housewives or The Amazing Race, World War I flying aces make everything better. You know what's great about technology? Watching last night's ousters on American Idol on my TiVo only took about eight minutes. Well, well, well. In the third and final week of The 24 Who Managed To Make It This Far, after the final 8 girls on Tuesday night turned my Idol world upside down (sort of, I'm exaggerating slightly for dramatic effect), the final 8 boys took my... They made a big deal last night on American Idol that this was the most important night in all eight girls' lives, this was the make-it-or-break-it moment for everyone, the deciding moment, the "wow" moment, the "it" moment, if... Sadder than the choice in Sophie’s Choice. Sadder than the first 15 minutes of Up. You know how when you are dating someone, and then you decide to break up with him, but there's some lag time between the time you make the decision and the time you actually cut the cord, and in that lag time every little thing he does that didn't... The Amazing Race got a little poignant last night, in the wake of the huge earthquake in Chile over the weekend. Our racers were there during much happier times. In and around the feeling of "meh" that I had last night while watching American Idol's quadruple ouster (that kind of sounds like a figure skating jump, doesn't it? Like Plushenko could do a quadruple ouster and then definitely win the... I’m not sure if it is on purpose or by accident, but the producers/creators/writers of Lost have certainly upped the love-hate ante in its final season. Raise your hand if you, like me, cannot stop saying "Oh my gravy." In last night's episode of Lost, either a lot happened or not much happened. I can't decide.
