It's February, time to think about July 4

 January 31, 2012

Plans for the annual July 4 fireworks festival are coming together fast, so it’s time for local businesses and residents to get onboard with donations and sponsorships.
The event now has a name, the 24th Annual July 4th Extravaganza, and the rough outline of a schedule for a three-day weekend event that promises to draw thousands to Norwich Harbor.
The Marina at American Wharf is the lead sponsor and the main venue, with the support of the city of Norwich, local businesses and volunteers. The Extravaganza will run from Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1, with local bands playing each day and a headliner band on Saturday, the night of the fireworks.
Here are a few of the family attractions planned:  kids’ bounce houses, face painting, artist events, local bands performing all three days, headliner band Saturday evening, food vendors, including Ericksons Ice Cream – owned by new marina owner Joyal Capital Management.
Organizers are putting together the final sponsorship list within the next week, so speak up now. For general information, contact Karen Beasley at Norwich Arts Center, (860) 887-2789, and for local sponsorships, contact Michael Franklin (860) 739-6277 Ext 146.
