Two arrested in attempted theft from old Hamden school

Hamden — Police say they have arrested two New Haven men suspected of breaking into a former school building in Hamden and stealing copper pipes and wiring.

Hamden police say they responded to a call about a burglary in progress at the old Hamden Middle School from a town employee who saw two individuals leaving and re-entering the building.

Officers took the men, both 19, into custody after finding the copper cut out of several locations and piled up near a door.

The suspects, identified as Brandon Walker and Jabraun Hines, were charged with burglary and larceny after Wednesday afternoon's arrests. They are scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on Dec. 11.

It was not immediately clear whether the pair had lawyers representing them.
