Several Connecticut prosecutors reappointed for 8-year terms
HARTFORD — Some of Connecticut's top prosecutors have been reappointed to new eight-year terms.
The state Criminal Justice Commission approved the reappointments of Danbury State's Attorney Stephen Sedensky III, Stamford/Norwalk State's Attorney Richard Colangelo Jr. and Ansonia/Milford State's Attorney Kevin Lawlor.
The commission also reappointed Deputy Chief State's Attorney John Russotto to a four-year term at its meeting on Thursday.
Connecticut has 13 judicial districts and the state's attorneys are the top law enforcement officials in each district.
Sedensky has been a prosecutor since 1984, Danbury state's attorney since 2007 and is known for leading the investigation into the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Colangelo has been the Stamford/Norwalk state's attorney since 2015 and a prosecutor since 1993. Lawlor has been a prosecutor since 1995 and Ansonia/Milford state's attorney since 2006.
