Metro-North worker injured in Greenwich, trains delayed
Greenwich— A Metro-North worker has suffered a minor injury after an accident on the tracks involving a piece of construction equipment.
Railroad spokesman Nancy Gamerman says the worker suffered a cut and other minor injuries after a piece of equipment that inserts railroad ties on the tracks derailed shortly after noon Thursday between the Cos Cob and Old Greenwich stations.
Trains are operating on a single track while investigators look into the accident. That has led to delays of up to 20 minutes on the New Haven line.
Gamerman says they expect to have full service restored by the afternoon rush hour.
Metro-North is replacing thousands of railroad ties as part of maintenance along the line in Connecticut.
