Connecticut girl, 7, drowns in home swimming pool

Plainfield — Plainfield police say a 7-year-old girl found in her family's swimming pool has died.

Isabella Costanzo was found submerged in the above ground pool by her mother around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was taken to an emergency medical center where she was pronounced dead.

Police say Isabella had been playing in her room when she apparently wandered outside.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Plainfield police remind residents that town regulations require installed pools to have an audible alarm system and a self-latching, self-closing gate system.
