MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — Officials say two adults and eight children have been rescued after they became stranded by the rising tide in a coastal Connecticut city.
A call came in around 1:10 p.m. Monday from a bystander reporting that 10 people from Glastonbury were overcome by a rising tide while attempting to return to shore on the sandbar going out to Charles Island in Milford.
Firefighters arrived with three marine units and found all of the children in distress. But crews were able to get them safely to shore. No injuries were reported.
Officials are reminding visitors to obey any posted warning signs along the shoreline.
