Woman pleads guilty to posing as nurse, stealing medications
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman authorities say posed as a nurse and stole prescription medications and valuables from three elderly people she was hired to care for has pleaded guilty.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette reports that 31-year-old Ann Fisher of Florence entered the plea Wednesday to 16 charges including drug larceny.
The judge continued Fisher's case without a finding for two years after Fisher's attorney asked for leniency, saying Fisher had struggled with drug addiction. If Fisher abides by probation terms during that time, the charges will be dropped.
Prosecutors say Fisher was hired by three people ages 80 to 92 to help them with their medications in 2014. Authorities say she instead stole the drugs and replaced them with over-the-counter products. An investigation found no record of Fisher having a nurse's license.
