Woman sentenced to prison for gambling on probation

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Connecticut woman has been sentenced to prison for gambling while on probation for stealing $1.7 million from her former employer.

U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly says 51-year-old Patricia Baddeley Meehan was sentenced Monday to two months behind bars and two more years of probation.

An investigation revealed the Ellington resident gambled at Foxwoods Resort Casino on more than 20 occasions between 2014 and 2016 and had jackpot winnings of more than $50,000.

Meehan was sentenced in February 2010 to 46 months behind bars followed by three years of probation for stealing $1.7 million from a law firm where she worked and for failing to pay taxes on the money.

Meehan was released from federal prison in August 2013 and forbidden from gambling or entering any establishment known to promote gambling.
