UConn men add Cornell transfer Miller

The UConn men's basketball program picked up a major commitment Saturday afternoon when Shonn Miller, a fifth-year transfer from Cornell, announced he will complete his athletic eligibility with the Huskies next season.

The announcement was reported by various media outlets.

Miller, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 16.8 points and 8.5 rebounds for Cornell last season with 11 double doubles. He sat out the 2013-14 season with a shoulder injury, and since Ivy League rules prohibit athletes from playing a fifth season, Miller is eligible immediately under the graduate transfer rule to play a fourth season.

Miller will provide UConn with a much-needed physical presence at the power forward position. Center Amida Brimah and forwards Kentan Facey and Phil Nolan return, but all three were inconsistent last season.

The Huskies will also welcome 6-foot-9 Steve Enoch of Norwalk, who prepped last season at St. Thomas More.
