Storrs — The UConn football team will play a pair of nationally-televised night games, seven home games and three non-conference games against Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents in 2016.

The Huskies, who went 6-7 in Bob Diaco's second season, losing to Marshall in the St. Petersburg Bowl, released their schedule on Tuesday. It also includes games against five teams that played in bowl games last season — Navy, Houston, Cincinnati, South Florida and Temple.

"I am very excited about our 2016 UConn football schedule for both our team and UConn Nation," Diaco said in a statement released by the university. "We have seven great home games and the American Athletic Conference will be as spectacular this year as it was last year. In addition, we have a challenging non-conference schedule against regional teams which provides even more energy for our program and fans."

UConn will visit Houston, the AAC champion which went on to win the Peach Bowl and finish No. 8 in the final national polls, on Thursday, Sept. 29 on ESPN. The Huskies handed the Cougars their only loss in 2015.

UConn will also welcome Temple to Rentschler Field on Friday Nov. 4 on ESPN2.

The Huskies will host Virginia (Sept. 17) and Syracuse (Sept. 24) of the ACC on consecutive weeks and renew their rivalry against a third ACC opponent, Boston College, on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Chestnut Hill, Mass.

UConn's fourth non-conference game is the season opener against Maine, an FCS program, on Thursday, Sept. 1.

The Huskies will open their AAC schedule on the road at Navy on Saturday, Sept. 10, and play their AAC home opener against Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 8. They also host AAC rivals Central Florida (Saturday, Oct. 22) and Tulane (Saturday, Nov. 26) in the regular-season finale.

The UConn-Navy game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network while kickoff times for all games and further television plans will be announced at a later date.

Season tickets for the seven home games are currently on sale at UConnTickets.com.
