UConn women draw St. Francis (Pa.) in NCAA tourney opener
Storrs — Unbeaten UConn, as expected, was seeded No. 1 in the Albany Region of the NCAA women's basketball tournament on Monday night and will play No. 16 St. Francis (Pa.) in the first round on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gampel Pavilion.
Eighth-seeded Miami (Fla.) will play No. 9 Quinnipiac in the second game at 1:30 p.m. (both games are on ESPN2) with the two winners playing in the second round on Monday, March 19 at a time to be determined.
The road to the Final Four in Columbus (Ohio) won't be easy, however, because a possible Elite Eight matchup with defending champion South Carolina looms. The Gamecocks are the No. 2 seed in the Albany Region.
