Pychedelic futurists hit Strange Brew Pub on Thursday

It's coming up on a year since the gleefully experimental rock band Burnouts From Outer Space released a hummable dirge called "Corpse Bride." Rumors have long persisted that the act — under the mesmeric guidance of vocalist Bobby Crash — have been incarcerated in the recording studio readying a full-length album.

These dudes — an all-star lineup usually includes guitarists Max Kelley and Pete Barrera, keyboardist Matt Gouette, bassists David Freeburg or Jason Banta and drummer Scott Kolb — have somehow managed to incorporate only the great qualities of Syd Barrett, Hawkwind, Flaming Lips and the Dukes of Stratosphere into an irresistible, post-millennial sonic roux.

The band hits the Strange Brew Pub on Thursday. Experience this live — and then demand they finish the album.

Burnouts From Outer Space, 9 p.m. Thursday, Strange Brew Pub, 297 West Main St., Norwich; free; (860) 886-7600.
