Theatre Re’s “The Nature of Forgetting” delves into memory and dementia in a piece that uses elements of theater, movement and music. The show by this acclaimed London-based group comes to Connecticut College on Tuesday. Its central character is Tom, who is celebrating his 55th birthday. He is also in the early stages of dementia.

According to the publicity material, “The piece, and Tom’s memories, are a life-affirming journey into a weakened mind, where broken does not have to mean defeated; a journey of shining humanity and celebration of a life well lived.”

“The Nature of Everything” was presented at the British Council Edinburgh Showcase 2017 and the London International Mime Festival that same year.

The public performance at Conn College is presented in collaboration with the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. There will be a panel discussion after the show with Guillaume Pigeì, who conceived and directed "The Nature of Forgetting"; Carolyn DeRocco, vice president of education and programs, Connecticut Chapter for Alzheimer's Association; Joseph Schroeder, associate professor of psychology and director of the Behavioral Neuroscience Program, Connecticut College. They will discuss the production from their perspectives and respond to questions from the audience.

Theatre Re’s “The Nature of Forgetting,” 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Palmer Auditorium, Connecticut College, New London; $24, $21 seniors, $12 students; (860) 439-2787.
