Mohegan Sun welcomes Kidz Bop for a Monday concert

The idea behind Kidz Bop — having kids sing versions of radio hits — isn’t totally new. As a child, I was the proud owner of the album on which the Brady Bunch youngsters took a whack at such tunes as “Love Me Do” and “Saturday in the Park.” (Imagine my shock to learn that Greg, Marcia and the gang weren’t the first ones to record “Love Me Do.”)

But the Kidz Bop folks (the creators are Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam of the entertainment company Razor & Tie.) have gone beyond mere recordings. They have been bringing the youths out on tour, and the latest round of concerts includes one Monday afternoon at Mohegan Sun Arena.

It’s not clear what exactly will be on the set list, but shows last year included their take on Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like,” Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” Imagine Dragons’ “Thunder” and Flo Rida’s “My House,” among others.

According to the tour’s publicity, there will also be fan interaction and — oh, this makes the blood run cold — “a parent dance battle to ’90s hits.” Well, that’s a sure what to mortify your kids.

    Kidz Bop Live, 4 p.m. Monday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $49-$69; 1-800-745-3000, www.mohegansun.com.
