Saybrook Stage Company performs "On Golden Pond" at the Kate

You could call it The Kate Connection.

As the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center — nicknamed the Kate — marks its 10th anniversary, the Saybrook Stage Company is performing the play version of one of the movies most associated with the late, great Kate. The nonprofit local live theater production company will present “On Golden Pond” at the center from Thursday through Sunday.

The story, as fans of the 1981 film will recall, centers on the elderly couple of Ethel and Norman Thayer (played in the motion picture by Hepburn and Henry Fonda), who are vacationing at their summer home on Golden Pond. Their adult daughter comes to visit, and her fraught relationship with her father comes to the fore. The movie won an array of Oscars, including a fourth Oscar for Hepburn.

Terri Corigliano gets to take on the Hepburn role of Ethel Thayer. Jim Hile plays her husband Norman, while Amy Kirby portrays their daughter.

Rounding out the cast are Ralph Buonocore, Mark Gilchrist and Jake Totten.

    “On Golden pond,” Katharine Hepburn Cultural arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; 8 p.m. Thurs.-Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun.; $17-$23: (860) 510-0453, www.TheKate.org.
