Terrence Bogan sings Broadway songs in Ledyard

    Terrence Bogan (Submitted)

Terrence Bogan, who won Broadway World’s Next on Stage Vocal Competition for High School Students a year ago, will present a program entitled “Great Broadway Songs of the 20th Century” at 12:15 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Ledyard Parks & Recreation/Senior Center.

The event is open to the public, and admission is free.

The program will last about 40 minutes. Gerald Moshell, who for 41 years was professor of music and director of the musical-theater program at Trinity, will be the piano accompanist.

Bogan has just finished his freshman year at Trinity College in Hartford. At Wallingford’s Sheehan High School, he was a football and track star in addition to participating in vocal and theatrical activities, and he has been able to continue in both sports at Trinity.

His program, in addition to songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, and Stephen Sondheim, will move through the century from “Showboat” (1927) to “Ragtime” (1998).

An optional lunch is available after the presentation (at 1 p.m.) for $7 per person, but reservations for the luncheon need to be made, at (860) 464-9112, by 10 a.m. on Aug. 10. (No reservations need to be made for the program itself.)

The Ledyard Parks & Recreation/Senior Center is located at 12 Van Tassel Drive, Gales Ferry.
