Trio of blues acts to play Hygienic Saturday

Blues Caravan, this is Chris Beard (Courtesy chrisbeard.music.com)

For those who plan on attending the John Mayall show at the Garde Friday — and correctly anticipate your thirst for blues will only intensity — grab a good night's rest, then stroll over Saturday night to the Hygienic Art Park for the Bobby Christina's Blues Caravan entourage.

Promoter Christina, of course, is of Rhody blues royalty and a fine musician in his own right with all sorts of Knickerbocker/Roomful of Blues connections. This collection of talent under his imprimatur is pretty stellar. The Chris Leigh Blues Band, an excellent hometown unit, kicks things off, followed by Joe Beard and ex-Roomful star Duke Robillard. Finally, the W.C. Handy-nominated Chris "Prince of the Blues" Beard Band headlines.

Bobby Christina's Blues Caravan, 6 p.m. Saturday, Hygienic Art Park, 79 Bank St., New London; $20; hygienic.org.
