UPDATED: Woman rescued after trying shortcut via 8-inch gap
Providence (AP) — A 22-year-old Connecticut woman tried taking a shortcut by wriggling through an 8-inch gap between two buildings, then got stuck and had to be rescued.
It happened around 1 a.m. Friday near Brown University in Providence.
The Providence Journal reports (http://bitly.com/VMpqRp) that according to a police report, Courtney A. Malloy, of Cheshire, was apparently drunk when she was found around 1 a.m. by a passerby.
Acting Battalion Fire Chief Jeffrey Varone tells the newspaper Malloy was trying to take a shortcut. He says when she was found, her body was horizontal about two feet off the ground.
Varone says firefighters had to open a hole in one building to help free her.
