USS Redfin class joins the fleet

Groton - Eighty-two Sailors of Class 14260 USS Redfin (SS-272) graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School Friday.

Seaman Adam Rampley was Class Honorman with a Grade Point Average of 96.95. Rampley continues in the apprentice team training pipeline.

Seaman JeanPaul Powell was recipient of the Submarine Heritage Award.

Fireman Apprentice Todd Hammes received the Navy Core Values Award for best exemplifying the standards and expectations of a U.S. Navy Sailor.

Seaman Recruit Keondre-Luke Manansala was meritoriously advanced as a result of his academic performance.

With Grade Point Averages of 90 or higher, Seaman Apprentice Matthew Brown, Seaman Recruit Jamie Johnson, Seaman Apprentice Izaak Vazquez, Seaman Scott Kutz, Seaman Recruit Johnathan Stone, Seaman Apprentice Michael Alley, Fireman Brandon West, Seaman Benjamin Kogut, Fireman Scott Washburn, Machinist Mate 3rd Class Ashraf Anabtawi, and Seaman Joshua Harab joined Powell and Manansala as Graduates with Distinction.

Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introduction to the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear powered submarines. In preparation for an assignment, sailors receive instruction on shipboard organization, submarine safety and escape procedures.
