Climate Change and You
Speaker: Patricia Sisson Zoom Presentation Thursday, January, 14th @ 7:00 P.M.
“NASA’s definition of climate change says it is “a broad range of global phenomena created predominantly by burning fossil fuels, which add heat-trapping gases to Earth’s atmosphere. These phenomena include the increased temperature trends described by global warming, but also encompass changes such as sea-level rise; ice mass loss in Greenland, Antarctica, the Arctic and mountain glaciers worldwide; shifts in flower/plant blooming; and extreme weather events.”
Patty is a member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, she attended Al Gore’s 2017 conference on climate change and greenhouse gases, a three-day training for Climate Reality leaders. Her presentation, Climate Change and You, will cover a broad range of environmental issues that relate to global warming. She will be going through the causes and some effects of climate change (with an emphasis on sea-level rise), including a special emphasis on the actions individuals can take to help in solving the problem.
Before her retirement, she was a teacher at Middletown High School, where she started the Environmental Club. Patty is a graduate of the University of California-Davis and she holds a Masters’ degree from Wesleyan University
