Can you get there from here? This old saying really means something when you consider getting across the mighty Connecticut without the bridges we have today! There are approximately 58 vehicle bridges currently spanning the Connecticut River and ten were chosen as representative examples for the Connecticut River Museum's 2013 exhibit 'Crossing the Connecticut: Bridges of the Connecticut River'. The exhibit features several different styles of bridge design and explores how people's ideas of what bridges should look like and how they reflect how their communities have changed over time. The exhibit features many objects and images from the Museum's collections as well as paintings, original toll signs, documents and other artifacts on loan from other institutions. Through October 20.

EHS is holding its Annual School’s Almost Out Strawberry Social Sunday, June 23, 2013 — mere days before the local children are released for summer vacation. We always have a fantastic time as well as more than enough servings of homemade strawberry shortcake to go around and we would love to have some hungry kids come help us eat it all. But first, build up that appetite with exciting activities and games fit for the whole family, and as a special treat the Sailing Masters' music will add to our festive mood. The Third Annual Preservation Award will be presented as well. No rain will get in the way of our good time — this party is on rain or shine!
