Barn Island in Spring
Old apple trees can be found along the trails at Barn Island, remnants of the farms once located here.
One of the land donations that added to Barn Island is commemorated on a rock along the main trail.
An area of grassland habitat between the wooded areas is conducive to having a greater variety of birds and other wildlife at the preserve.
The main trail, a loop past the marshes and into woodland areas, is about three miles total.
The vast marshes at Barn Island look out over Little Naragansett Bay and Wequetquock Cove.
