Sophomore Taylor Lee had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday as the Waterford High School softball team defeated Stonington in a battle of ECC Division II unbeatens.

His baseball and volleyball teams are consistently among the finest in the ECC and at the state level because, as athletic director Steve Hargis says, Biggs is “independent of the sport, independent of the gender. ... There’s literally no difference in the people standing in front of him.

Jack Biggs has coached in six state championship games since his arrival at East Lyme High School in 1997, four in volleyball (2006, 2010-12) and two in baseball (2015, 2016), winning CIAC Class L volleyball titles in 2010 and 2011.
