Groton - City police assisted the town department Tuesday in arresting a teenager on sexual assault charges.

Town police said the youth officer from Groton City apprehended a 17-year-old male at his Mather Avenue residence. The male was released into the custody of the Groton Town Police.

The youth officers their charged the youth with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a minor.

Police would not release further details about the arrest.
