NL, Norwich, Stonington parking bans in effect

Due to the significant amount of snowfall expected in Southeastern Connecticut, the winter parking ban takes effect in New London at noon today, the New London Police Department announced.

The ban will continue until snow plows have ended plowing operations. When the ban is in effect, there is no parking on any streets in the downtown area. Where parking is posted on one side of the street, follow posted regulations. If parking is permitted on both sides of the street, park on the odd side of the street.

In Norwich, the police department has issued a statement reminding citizens and motorists that the City of Norwich Traffic Regulations prohibit parking on the odd side of all city streets during winter snowstorms and the subsequent snow removal operations. For more information go to

In Stonington, a parking ban will be in effect throughout today because of the accumulation of snow. Vehicles not moved off the street will be ticketed and towed. Stonington Borough residents should observe snow parking ban restrictions on Water, Main and Elm Streets.
