Fatal One-Car Accident on I-95 South
Robert Komola, 49, of Cottage Road in Madison died as a result of a fatal, single-vehicle accident on I-95 Southbound yesterday, sometime before 9:10 a.m.
Komola, was traveling in the right lane and drifted off onto the right shoulder and struck a large tree just north of exit 60 according to the Connecticut State Police.
The state police and local emergency professionals responded to the scene. The vehicle, a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina, sustained extensive front end damage. Motorists passing the scene reported smoke.
Komola was wearing shoulder and lap belts and the airbag was deployed according to state police.
The accident is open and under investigation.
The high was cleared and traffic resumed to normal approximately three hours after the incident.
