Toys for Tots, storage firm partner to store toys for Christmas
Toys for Tots, operated in New London County by the U.S. Marine Corps League, has forged a partnership with self-storage company Cross Road Rent-A-Space of Waterford to store donated toys in preparation for the Christmas season.
On Monday, the Marine Corps League plans to ship more than 3,000 toys to the new storage space, according to a news release.
The program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distributes them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. It is a year-round effort.
"It's funny that just this month at our company meeting, we decided to institute a new military discount and also to look for opportunities to give back to the community," Michael Dunn, owner of Cross Road Rent-A-Space, said. "Then we got this e-mail that the Marines were looking for some help. Our employees are truly proud and honored to be able to contribute to such a respected and worthy cause."
