Water will flow again in city's fountain

New London -- The city is expected to turn on the water on the whale tail fountain in the next few days, according to a press release issued by the city manager's office.

"The City, working with Ledge Light Health District and following an inspection by the State of Connecticut's Department of Health ... have determined that, due to its unique design, the protocol for the operation of the fountain will require enhanced services and infrastructure," the city said in a press release.

The fountain will operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m daily and will be monitored.

The fountain was turned off Monday after a homeless man was discovered by police in the fountain on Friday.
