Groton - Connecticut's charges have been dropped against the Mystic psychic who is being accused of grand theft larceny in New York.

According to court records, the charges against Sylvia Mitchell, 36, were nolle'd and dismissed on June 22.

Mitchell was arrested at her store/apartment in downtown Mystic May 25 and charged with criminal impersonation and being a fugitive from justice. Groton Town police said Mitchell gave them a fake name when confronted.

At her appearance in New London Superior Court May 26, Judge Kevin McMahon instructed Mitchell to turn herself in to New York authorities and the 30-day extradition period was waived, according to the court file.

State police in Greene County, N.Y., said Mitchell turned herself in June 21. She was brought to the town of Athens court and was released after paying a $10,000 bail there.

Mitchell is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E felony, according to police. It was unclear when Mitchell's next court date is; the district attorney's office in Athens could not be reached Thursday or Friday.

New York police in the Catskills wanted Mitchell for allegedly bilking a woman out of more than $9,000. Police in New York City's 6th Precinct have also fielded complaints about Mitchell, who previously worked out of Zena the Clairvoyant psychic parlor in Manhattan, according to The New York Times.
