    Starters Need To Step Up

Dating back to last September there haven't been too many positives for the Boston Red Sox. Sweeping the Cleveland Indians at Fenway this past weekend was definitely refreshing, but there's still a long way to go.

As I've said before, the starting pitching is why the Red Sox are still in last place in the AL East and have one of the worst records currently in baseball. Yes, the offense has gone cold at times and the bullpen has blown saves but it's the inconsistent starters that have really done this team in early on.

It's not on Doubrant or Bard. Both by the way pitched well in their last starts and each picked up a win. These are young guys that still are working it out and have room to grow.

It's on Lester, Beckett and Buchholz. The confidence level when these three take the mound is in the cellar right now and how can it not be? It seems like all are getting knocked out after the 3rd inning throwing 75 pitches giving up five runs. It's easy to be negative right now with none really giving you an argument otherwise on and off the course...I mean field.

That's why I'm looking at Lester, Beckett and Buchholz this week to give Boston some quality starts. This season will turn around if they can put things together and pitch the way we know/hope they can pitch.
