New gallery in Essex opens Saturday
Art Essex Gallery will open today at 10 Main St. in Essex.
A grand opening will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the 5,000-square-foot gallery that will include established and emerging artists. The inaugural reception will feature seascapes by New York City artist Richard Orient and Ivoryton ceramicist Hayne Bayless.
The gallery is owned by George Billis, a longtime Connecticut resident who has other galleries in New York City and Los Angeles. The gallery will include prints, works on paper, photography, ceramics, sculpture and painting. It also is open to buying artwork from local estates.
