THIRD ANNUAL RUN LOCAL/ READ LOCAL ON OCTOBER 20, 2012
5K ROAD AND TRAIL RUN / WALK RACE
WEAR A COSTUME AND WIN A PRIZE
The Third Annual Run Local/Read Local 5k Road and Trail Run/Walk Race benefiting the Ivoryton Library is scheduled for Saturday, October 20, 2012. This race will begin at 9:15 am near the Library and meander through historic Ivoryton, continuing into Falls River Farms and the Falls River Preserve and ending back at the Library.
This event, fun for families, runners and walkers alike, is part of the Essex Great Outdoor Pursuit in conjunction with the Essex Park and Recreation Department and the Essex Land Trust. It is sponsored in part by Jacqui Hubbard and Norm Needleman, The Ivoryton Playhouse and Bell Power Systems.
A “Pumpkin Run” in Ivoryton Park at 8:45 a.m. is scheduled for children 8 years & under. All Pumpkin Runners will receive a metal and a pumpkin that can be painted after their race.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. for all walkers and runners. Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female 5K runners, the top 3 male & female runners in 10 year age groups (no duplicates), and the top male and female 5K walkers, as well as the best Halloween costume, male, female and group.
ENTRY FEE FOR 5K RUN/WALK:
Until OCTOBER 18, 2012: $23
RACE DAY: $25
PUMPKIN RUN: $5 per child.
The first 300 entrants for the 5k will be given tee-shirts.
Parking for the participants will be designated as you enter Ivoryton. The Library is located at 106 Main St.
