• Valley Regional/Old Lyme overcame a 13-6 halftime deficit by scoring 27 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Morgan 40-20 in a Pequot Football Conference Sassacus Division game.

The Warriors (3-1) turned three quick defensive stops in into touchdowns, the first a 2-yard run by Justin Cheverier to cut the deficit to 13-12, the second a 21-yard TD pass from Phil Cohen to Chris St. Jean-Pierre to give Valley/OL the lead for good 20-12 (Cohen ran for the two-point conversion), and the third a Cohen 12-yard TD pass to Chris Connor to make it 27-13.

The final points came on Cheverier's 38-yard interception return for a TD and a 4-yard run by Tyler James to make it 40-13. Valley/OL's first-half points were courtesy of two Ricky Harrison field goals (18 and 37 yards).

"We're super, super young," Valley/OL coach Tim King said. "(Morgan) had the momentum at halftime, but we came out and got after it in the second half. Our defense played great and St. Jean-Pierre gave us three or four short fields with excellent punt returns."
